Family policies
Photos of your child
We ask your written permission before we share any photo of your child, on this site, in newsletters or on social media, and you can change your answer at any time. We never put a child's name with a photo, and the photos on this site are examples until we replace them with our own.
When to keep your child home
A child with a fever, vomiting or a contagious illness stays home until they feel well. We spend the day outside, so a child who is too tired for the morning is better at home. If a child gets sick at school, we call you to pick them up.
Drop-off and pickup
Children leave only with the adults you listed when you enrolled, and we ask for ID at the barn door from anyone we don't know. At pickup the group waits at the barn, and a teacher hands each child over in person.
Late pickup
If you will be late, call or text the school. A teacher stays with your child until you arrive. What happens if it repeats is explained when you enroll.
Meals, snacks and allergies
We provide a snack on forest mornings, and children bring lunch on full days and a water bottle every day. We ask families not to send nuts. If your child has allergies, tell us on the tour; we ask for the details privately once you enroll.
Closures for weather and holidays
We close for school holidays and the winter break. When the weather closes the school, such as a storm that brings trees down, we text families before they leave home.
Screens and phones
Children don't use screens during the day. We ask adults at drop-off and pickup to keep phones in a pocket.
What to wear and bring
Layers that can get wet and muddy, waterproof boots, a rain jacket and pants, and a dry change of clothes in a bag.
Leaving the program
We ask for a month's written notice, in person or through the form.
